Why Future Quest Works
88% of students have more career clarity after using Future Quest

5 E's of Exploration
Research backed framework designed to help students learn about different career pathways and how to extend their career discovery journey beyond the platform
-
Explore - Our first step of Career Exploration is in the name - but is only one part of the larger whole. Students are encouraged to research on their own and gain context about a career or industry.
-
Experience - This is the bulk of each simulation. Students try out hands-on tasks replicating real-world roles to get a sense of what they enjoy - and what they don't.
-
Engage - After getting to experience different roles, students hear from individuals working within the industry being simulated. Then, they are encouraged to reach out on their own to learn more.
-
Evaluate - Student reflect on their experiences, what they discovered when exploring, and what they heard from industry professionals to evaluate how they perceived an industry and what types of roles they would or wouldn't consider in the future.
-
Envision - Finally, students are guided to map out their future integrating what they've learned. They are given a head start with AI-generated pathways based on their reflections, but are also prompted to take steps to get them closer to their dream careers.
Learning Sciences
Our theory of change draws on key learning science principles:
Motivation in learning (Kong, 2021 and Kolb, 1984): Engaging simulations allowing students to learn experientially sustain interest and intrinsic motivation to seek additional career experiences.
Grounding learning in context through reflection (Ash & Clayton, 2004): Students learn by doing in real-world contexts, and reflection deepens connections from those experiences.
Self-Efficacy and Growth Mindset (Bandura, 1984): Students build “skill and will” by succeeding in tasks and recognizing what they do or don’t enjoy. Personalized pathways synthesize reflections into concrete next steps, giving them greater agency.
